Message from the Editor-in-Chief, JMUST

On behalf of the Journal of Medicine University of Santo Tomas (JMUST), it is with pleasure to welcome our readers to the UST medical student-driven researches aggregated in a JMUST Special Issue (SI).

This SI illuminates the rigor, curiosity, and growing research competence of our medical students. Their work reflects the integration of epidemiologic principles into clinically relevant questions. Such contributions underscore the importance of cultivating evidence-based thinking early in medical training and affirm the vital role of student-led research in advancing medical knowledge and improving patient care.

Our appreciation extends to the Guest Editors, whose expertise, dedication, and mentorship were instrumental in shaping this SI. Undoubtedly, their guidance ensured the scientific quality, methodological soundness, and relevance of the published articles. Reviewers are likewise acknowledged for their unselfish efforts, time and inputs that sharpened each and every manuscript.

JMUST manifests its commitment to support excellence in the academe and fostering a strong culture of research within the purview of the University of Santo Tomas. It is our wish that this SI will inspire coming generations of medical students to embark in meaningful research and contribute to the advancement of clinical practice through sound inquisitiveness.

We sincerely congratulate the student authors, mentors, advisers and all who contributed to a worthwhile endeavor manifested in this present SI.
